Why a new design with lifting body element ?

I got this idea that if i get more lift out of the fuse I can decrease the wing size and drag in cruise speeds + I am possibly able to counteract the CG depth or width. This means many advances since the fuel positioning and pilot layout becomes more free as they are not presicely predestined to be closeby the CofG. Lifting body will also help to rearrange the the landing gear into totally new kinda approach...that would yield lighter construction all together.
